It’s not every day a totally new brand steps out to take the limelight away from established players. And yet Mifo seems to have accomplished that and more, creating an original product from scratch in one of the toughest categories from competitive and engineering standards: True wireless earbuds.

Mifo O5 Plus Gen 3 true wireless earbuds features fact check

Mifo has not skimped on features with their O5 Plus Gen 3 true wireless earbuds. From the monster 100 hour, 2,600mAh charging case to the over 7 hours of uninterrupted play time we achieved, these earbuds deliver everything they promise.

The improved Gen 3 iteration adds mobile device charging to harness the power of that massive battery on the road, as well as transparency mode and improved sound drivers. Overall, it’s an impressive showing that includes features found in competitors at twice the price (or more).

On top of that, Mifo includes quality metals on every inch of the product, giving it a sturdy, durable feel. Even the packaging and presentation looks lux, which taken as a whole eliminates buyer’s remorse from the moment you open the box.

Mifo has come to the table with one of the strongest next generation true wireless offerings we have ever seen. That’s no easy feat for a new brand to pull off, and we’re very excited to see what they come up with next.

While they aren’t perfect, Mifo’s O5 Plus Gen 3 true wireless earbuds are the best compromise between fit, sound quality, and value money can buy. They handily match even the best true wireless offering from Bose at less than half the price, while managing to look and feel more durable. As a note, Mifo may not be available in all markets, but does offer local stores in certain countries. For example, the O5 was recently name as one of the best running headphones in Australia.

Mifo has also been excellent with regard to customer service. They do include the ability to purchase one single lost earbud or charging case, for example, from their website. They also include options like custom fitted memory foam ear tips.

The Nothing Ear(a) wireless earbuds enter the competitive market of personal audio solutions with a unique design and robust features. This extensive review will explore their capabilities, compare them with industry giants like Apple, Samsung, and Google, and help determine if they meet specific listening needs.

Design and Aesthetics

The Nothing Ear(a) continues the brand’s ethos of eye-catching design with its transparent casing and futuristic look. Weighing just slightly over their predecessors, these earbuds are designed for comfort and prolonged use. Each earbud is marked with subtle dots for identification; red for right and no mark for left, adding a minimalist yet practical touch.

Pros:

Lightweight Design: Comfortable for extended periods, ideal for long commutes or extended listening sessions.

Distinctive Transparent Case: Stands out in a market where most competitors opt for opaque or solid color designs.

Cons:

Case Design: Some might find the case less practical than traditional designs, as its unique shape can be less stable when placed on flat surfaces.

Audio Performance

The Nothing Ear(a) is equipped with dynamic drivers that deliver a balanced sound profile. The audio quality is designed to cater to a wide range of musical tastes, providing clarity and a decent level of bass.

Pros:

Balanced Sound: Clean and clear audio experience suitable for various music genres.

Active Noise Cancellation (ANC): Adjustable ANC can be tailored to the environment, effectively blocking ambient noise.

Cons:

Codec Support: Limited support for high-resolution audio codecs which may deter audiophiles looking for the best sound quality over Bluetooth.

User Interface and Control

The touch controls on the Nothing Ear(a) are responsive and customizable through the accompanying app, allowing users to adjust settings to their preferences, enhancing usability.

Pros:

Customizable Controls: Adjust touch controls to improve the interactive experience.

Responsive Touch Interface: Minimizes errors during use, allowing for smoother operation.

Cons:

Learning Curve: New users may initially find the touch controls tricky to master.

Battery Life and Charging

The earbuds offer competitive battery life suitable for most users under normal conditions. The charging case provides additional charges, extending total usage significantly between plug-ins.

Pros:

Improved Battery Life: Provides around five hours of playtime with ANC enabled, with additional power provided by the charging case.

Fast Charging: Ensures the earbuds are quickly ready for use.

Cons:

Battery Drain with ANC: Activating ANC significantly reduces battery life.

Comparison with Competitors

The Nothing Ear(a) holds its own against products from Apple, Samsung, and Google, particularly in design and user interface. However, it may lag slightly behind in terms of integration within broader ecosystems. For example, Apple’s AirPods offer seamless integration with iOS devices, which might be more attractive for iPhone users. Samsung’s Galaxy Buds and Google’s Pixel Buds also provide better integration with their respective device ecosystems.

Suitability and Target Audience

The Nothing Ear(a) is particularly suitable for tech enthusiasts who appreciate design innovation and reasonable sound quality. They are also a good choice for consumers looking for functional, stylish earbuds that stand out visually and perform well in everyday scenarios.

Final Recommendation

The Nothing Ear(a) earbuds are recommended for users who prioritize unique design and effective noise cancellation. They offer good value in the competitive wireless earbud market. However, potential buyers should consider other options if they require superior audio codec support or deeper integration with existing devices and ecosystems.

Questions and Answers

Are the Nothing Ear(a) earbuds compatible with all smartphones?
A: Yes, the Nothing Ear(a) earbuds are compatible with both iOS and Android devices, although they may offer better functionality with certain devices.

Can the Nothing Ear(a) be used for making calls?
A: Yes, they are equipped with multiple microphones and clear voice technology, ensuring clear call quality even in noisy environments.

Is there an app to control the Nothing Ear(a) features?
A: Yes, the Nothing X app allows users to customize settings, including the equalizer, touch controls, and check battery levels.

How does the ANC on Nothing Ear(a) compare to other leading brands?
A: The ANC is effective for everyday use, though it may not be on par with top-of-the-line models from Bose or Sony that are specifically designed for noise cancellation.

What is the charging time and battery life of the Nothing Ear(a)?
A: The earbuds offer up to five hours of playback with ANC on, and the case provides additional charges. They can be fully charged in about an hour.

In summary, the Nothing Ear(a) wireless earbuds represent a solid middle ground in the market of personal audio devices. They combine distinctive design with capable technical features, standing out particularly for their style and active noise cancellation. While they face stiff competition from established brands, they hold their own by offering a unique aesthetic and a user-friendly experience at a competitive price. For those drawn to their design and specific features, the Nothing Ear(a) could be a worthy purchase. However, those requiring deep integration with specific mobile ecosystems or the absolute best in audio quality might look towards more specialized offerings from Apple, Samsung, or Google.

The Nothing Ear and Nothing Ear(a) are the latest entries in the market of wireless earbuds, each bringing their own unique features and design to the budget-friendly audio sector. Both models continue the company’s tradition of offering aesthetically distinct products with transparent casings and a focus on quality at a reasonable price point. Here’s a detailed look at these two models to help you decide which might be the right choice for you.

Design and Comfort

Both the Nothing Ear and the Nothing Ear(a) sport the signature transparent design that Nothing has become known for, making these earbuds stand out from the competition. The Nothing Ear comes in a more traditional black or white color scheme, while the Nothing Ear(a) is available in a vibrant yellow. The Ear(a) model is slightly lighter than the Nothing Ear, though the difference is minimal.

The cases of these earbuds are designed differently. The Nothing Ear features a case reminiscent of a fidget spinner, which may not appeal to everyone, while the Ear(a) opts for a more compact and rounded case that’s easier to carry and fits more comfortably in your pocket.

Audio Quality and Features

Both models offer good sound quality for their price range, with custom drivers that provide clear audio with adequate bass. They support standard AAC streaming, with the Nothing Ear providing additional support for LDAC and LHDC, offering higher-quality audio options.

Each set of earbuds comes with active noise cancellation (ANC) capabilities, allowing users to choose between different levels of noise filtering, as well as an adaptive mode that adjusts based on your environment. The in-app controls are extensive, allowing for customization of touch controls and checking battery levels.

Battery Life and Durability

Battery performance for both models is adequate but not groundbreaking. Users can expect up to five hours of playback with ANC enabled, which is sufficient for most daily needs. The Nothing Ear(a) offers a slightly longer battery life under the same conditions. Both cases provide additional charges, extending total listening time significantly between charges.

The earbuds are rated IP54 for water resistance, making them suitable for use in different weather conditions. However, the cases differ in protection; the Nothing Ear has a more robust IP55-rated case, while the Ear(a)’s case is only IPX2 rated, which means it’s less resistant to water.

Comparison with Competitors

When compared to industry leaders like Apple’s AirPods, Samsung’s Galaxy Buds, and Google’s Pixel Buds, the Nothing Ear and Nothing Ear(a) hold their ground in terms of design and basic functionality. They are particularly competitive in terms of price, making them an appealing option for users who prioritize distinctive design and cost-effectiveness over integration with wider tech ecosystems.

Which Model to Buy: Nothing Ear vs. Nothing Ear(a)

When choosing between the Nothing Ear and Nothing Ear(a), your decision should be based on specific preferences and needs regarding design, audio quality, additional features, and budget. Here’s a straightforward guide to help you decide which model suits you best:

1. For Design Enthusiasts:

Choose Nothing Ear(a): If you are drawn to vibrant, standout colors, the Nothing Ear(a) in its bold yellow finish will catch your eye. It’s perfect for those who want their earbuds to make a fashion statement.

2. For Audio Purists:

Choose Nothing Ear: If you prioritize higher audio quality and codec support, the Nothing Ear supports both LDAC and LHDC, offering better performance for high-resolution audio streaming. This makes it suitable for audiophiles who want more from their listening experience.

3. For Budget-Conscious Users:

Choose Nothing Ear(a): Priced slightly lower than the Nothing Ear, this model offers a very similar experience without breaking the bank. It’s an ideal choice for those who want quality without the additional cost.

4. For Tech-Savvy Users:

Choose Nothing Ear: With advanced features like a more comprehensive app integration and personal sound profiles, the Nothing Ear is better suited for users who appreciate having extensive control and customization options at their fingertips.

5. For Practical Everyday Use:

Choose Nothing Ear(a): If you need a reliable set of earbuds that are comfortable to wear for long periods and provide good sound quality for everyday use, the Nothing Ear(a) with its slightly better battery life and comfort might be the better choice.

6. For Durability Concerns:

Choose Nothing Ear: Given its higher water resistance rating (IP55 vs. IPX2), the Nothing Ear is more suited for active users or those living in areas with frequent rain. This model offers better protection against water and sweat.

Conclusion

Both the Nothing Ear and Nothing Ear(a) offer unique advantages, so your choice will depend on what aspects you value most in earbuds. If you want the best audio quality and more advanced features, go for the Nothing Ear. If you prefer to save a bit while still getting a great overall experience with a splash of color, the Nothing Ear(a) will serve you well.

Both models are well-suited for users looking for stylish, everyday earbuds with effective noise cancellation, making them a worthy consideration for your next audio purchase. Whether you choose the Nothing Ear or the slightly cheaper Nothing Ear(a) will depend largely on your color preference and minor differences in case design and audio codec support.

The Nothing Ear(a) earbuds, detailed in our review, are known for their unique transparent design and solid sound performance. However, they come with a heftier price tag of around $200, which sets them in a higher market segment. These earbuds also feature active noise cancellation, a sought-after feature that adds to their appeal.

Key Features:

Transparent design that stands out aesthetically.

Active noise cancellation for enhanced audio clarity in noisy environments.

Slightly higher price point, reflecting premium features.

Design and Comfort

Both models sport distinctive designs that cater to style-conscious users. The Sonictrek Hifi Plus opts for a minimalistic approach with a flat, pocket-friendly case and a magnetic latch, making them not only functional but also fashionable. The Nothing Ear(a), on the other hand, uses its see-through casing as a major selling point, appealing to those who prefer a tech-forward appearance.

Sonictrek Pros:

Sleek, ergonomic design for comfortable wear.

Lightweight and unobtrusive in the ear.

Nothing Ear(a) Pros:

Unique transparent design that showcases internal components.

Comfortable fit with customizable ear tips.

Sound Quality and Performance

The Sonictrek Hifi Plus earbuds deliver an impressive acoustic performance, suited for a variety of musical genres. They are particularly noted for their balanced sound profile, which does not overly favor bass or treble, providing a clean and immersive listening experience. The Nothing Ear(a) offers decent sound quality with effective noise cancellation, though some reviews suggest that it lacks the depth provided by higher-end models.

Sonictrek Pros:

Balanced audio with excellent clarity.

Effective at maintaining connection stability over long distances.

Nothing Ear(a) Pros:

Decent sound quality with active noise cancellation.

Good for casual listening and phone calls.

Battery Life and Connectivity

Sonictrek Hifi Plus earbuds excel in battery performance, offering more than a day’s worth of listening on a single charge, with additional charges provided by the case. The Nothing Ear(a) has a respectable battery life but falls slightly short compared to the Sonictrek, especially when using active noise cancellation.

Sonictrek Pros:

Long battery life with quick charging capabilities.

Reliable connectivity with the latest Bluetooth technology.

Nothing Ear(a) Pros:

Sufficient battery life for daily use.

Stable connectivity without frequent dropouts.

Price and Value

When it comes to value, the Sonictrek Hifi Plus earbuds are the clear winners. Priced significantly lower than the Nothing Ear(a), they offer a comparable—if not superior—listening experience and better battery life, making them an excellent choice for budget-conscious consumers looking for quality without compromise.

Conclusion

Both the Sonictrek Hifi Plus and the Nothing Ear(a) wireless earbuds offer unique designs and good sound quality, but the Sonictrek Hifi Plus stands out as the better overall value. With its superior battery life, balanced sound profile, and lower price point, it is an ideal choice for anyone looking to get the most out of their investment in a pair of stylish, high-performance earbuds. Whether you’re commuting, working out, or just enjoying your favorite tunes, the Sonictrek Hifi Plus provides quality, comfort, and value that are hard to beat.

With the announcement of the iPhone 12 no longer including any type of earbuds in…

With the announcement of the iPhone 12 no longer including any type of earbuds in the box, now seems to be a good time to shift to Bluetooth headphones or earbuds for your new Apple device. While Apple has the Airpods, Airpods Pro, and even Powerbeats Pro (from Beats), we wanted to explore and to give you other options aside from the products that we’ve mentioned should you want an alternative.

That being said, we’ve compiled a list of the best wireless headphones and earbuds options for your iPhone 12 – though our picks can work out with your Android phones as well.

Sony WH-1000XM4

It’s no surprise that an entry from Sony makes this list as they have a pretty solid reputation in the audio market – including the wireless headphone niche. In saying that, the Sony WH-1000XM4 is a great pair with features for a better experience with calls. It works better than the previous WH-1000XM3 model in noisier environments and has a multipoint Bluetooth pairing feature wherein you can connect to two devices at the same time. This is very convenient because if a call were to come in on your smartphone while you’re using your computer, audio will automatically switch to your phone once you pick it up. This also means that you wouldn’t have to go through the hassle of pairing and unpairing your headphones to multiple devices.

Beats Flex

This pair is the successor of the BeatsX – Beats’ neckband-style wireless earbuds. It retails for much cheaper compared to its predecessor and has a better performance, being great for calls and having a better battery life. It’s also available in fun colors including a striking yellow and a cool light blue (arriving early 2026).

Mpow X3

These earbuds have great value for money with a price tag of $70 despite being chock full of features. Firstly, it’s IPX7-rated which means that it’s fully waterproof which is perfect for the gym and on-the-go. Next, you get 7 hours of playtime with moderate volume levels with USB-C charging. Call quality is good as well with a sidetone feature that lets you hear your voice during calls in the earbuds. The only downside to this pair though is that the controls can be a little tricky to figure out – but a quick search online should do the trick for you. Other than that, this is a great option overall with superb value for money.

Apple Airpods Pro

As we are talking about the best wireless earbuds in relation to the iPhone 12, we won’t forget the Airpods Pro by Apple. They’re great to use with the Apple ecosystem of products with even more features available now that iOS 14 is available. Aside from that, they’re premium noise cancelling earbuds with transparency mode which is practically a must with the modern wireless pairs of today. It has improved bass and spatial audio as well which is a new virtual-sound mode for watching movies and TV shows; though this would only work on Apple devices running iOS 14. They’re also good for calls and working out so people with active lifestyles and those always on-the-go would really be able to appreciate this pair.

Bose QuietComfort Earbuds

These earbuds have great sound quality and noise cancellation – even being better than the Airpods Pro in this category. They also feature great design with their ear wings so you wouldn’t be worried at all about these falling out while working out or doing other strenuous activities. They have a bigger form factor though so if that’s something you’re particular about, it could be a slight Con for you.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus

We know that we’re talking about wireless headphones and earbuds for the iPhone 12 but this Samsung pair should do the trick for you. This pair is the same as the original Galaxy Buds but their battery life is rated at 11 hours of playtime (compared to the original’s 6 hours) with better drivers for sound and an additional microphone in each bud for external noise reduction when taking calls. It has great sound quality and an improved app for iOS users so you wouldn’t have to worry about this pair’s compatibility with your iPhone 12 or other Apple devices.

Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2

This pair has a small form factor for maximum comfort, making sure you have no ear fatigue when you wear them for hours on end. It also has great sound quality and amazing active noise cancellation technology which rivals many pairs in the market. It comes in a classic black but will be available in a bright white as the year goes by. It uses Bluetooth 5.1 and supports both Apple and android devices with no problem.

Apple Airpods

Like the Airpods Pro, these obviously work well with the Apple ecosystem of products being manufactured by Apple themselves. They’re a great pair with crisp sound quality and features such as always-on voice recognition which is great for hands-free listening. They’re also great for calls which are becoming increasingly important at a time where online meetings are prevalent.

Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700

These headphones offer better sound quality, call, and noise cancelling features compared to its predecessor, the Quiet Comfort 35 II. Aside from this, it gives you 20 hours of listening time which is perfect for long haul flights or commutes since it will last through your playlists, movies, and podcasts. Like we’ve mentioned above, it’s also great for calls and works as an amazing headset so your value for money is definitely guaranteed if you’re someone who’s going to need that feature a lot.

Jabra Elite 75t

These earbuds are the successor of the Jabra 65t with many improvements done. It’s 20% smaller than the 65t which means that it’s more portable and comfortable to wear for hours on end. It has better battery life as well and USB-C charging which is the standard charging protocol that many phones and other devices use. One of the major upgrades though is a firmware update that gives you noise cancellation. It also has an IP55 rating which means that it can withstand heavy sprays of water.

Beats Powerbeats Pro

One of the main attractions of this pair is all the fun colors it’s available in – you’re not stuck with the usual black, white, and beige colorways that a lot of wireless earbuds come in. With this one, you can expect bright yellows and cool pinks which are sure to add a pop of color to your looks. Since Beats are owned by Apple, the Powerbeats Pro offers the same features as the Airpods and Airpods Pro. They offer more bass though and a water-resistant sport design alluding to their target audience of more athletic crowds. They’re definitely perfect for those who are very sporty and for those who love going on adventures.

Jaybird Vista

This pair is on the smaller side which makes them perfect for those who are looking for a more discreet pair. They’re made for those with more active lifestyles, being IPX7-rated meaning that they’re fully sweat and waterproof. They have good sound quality, battery life, and overall performance as well receiving tweaks to make them better than the other pairs that Jaybird has released.

Beats Solo Pro

The Solo Pro is a more compact headphone pair by Beats but it doesn’t fall short of amazing features that would be great for your iPhone 12. It’s the first on-ear pair by Beats to feature active noise cancellation. It also has transparency mode which you can access with a tap of a button to be able to hear the outside world and ambient noise while listening to music. Additionally, it has six microphones working for you – two of which are designed to hone in your voice for calls or voice assistants. As for sound quality, it’s smooth and well-balanced with a punchy bass that fortunately doesn’t make the music sound booming.

Anker Soundcore Life Q20

This pair is on the affordable side with it regularly being on sale. For its price though, you get good value for money with its good sound quality and decent noise cancelling. Sound is clear with a good level of bass and bass boost (or BassUp Mode) is available if you want more punch. It’s very comfortable to wear as well with 40 hours of battery life which makes it a perfect companion for travelling. Its capabilities for taking calls also impresses which makes it our number one pick for affordable wireless headphones.

Now, with that wraps up our list of the best wireless headphones and earbuds for the iPhone 12. This is the perfect opportunity to not only upgrade your phone but your earbuds as well. With all of our picks above, we can guarantee you satisfaction and a happy listening. We hope to have helped you with this article and with your earbud hunting journey in general.

► ALSO READ: Mifo O5 Plus Gen 2 Sports Earbuds Review With Airpods being a…

► ALSO READ: Mifo O5 Plus Gen 2 Sports Earbuds Review

With Airpods being a household name in the wireless earbuds market, it is no surprise that many of their competitors are trying to be on par with them (or even surpass them) as a great daily option. The Bose QuiteComfort Earbuds is one of those competitors. That is why today, we will be comparing the two wireless earbuds – the Airpods Pro and the Bose QuietComfort to see which pair can be hailed as the best true wireless earbuds.

For our comparison today, we will be looking at both the hardware and software of these pairs. While sound quality and the features they come with should be the star of the show, their portability and overall look is also very important. In saying that, we will start by comparing these two strong contenders in terms of Design.

Design

The biggest difference that the Airpods Pro and the Bose QuietComfort has is their size. The Bose QuietComfort is significantly larger than the Airpods Pro – both in terms of case and the earbuds themselves. Looking at them side by side, the Bose Quietcomfort’s case is around three times larger which is a big factor in its portability. As for the earbuds themselves, while the Airpods Pro has their signature look (with the stem and in-ear tips), the Bose QuietComfort has a more traditional appearance with a pretty large form factor, ear wings, and an oval tip to go in your ears.

Going more in depth regarding the earbuds case, both have a flip-open top but unlike the Airpods Pro – the Bose QuietComfort has a physical button you would need to push before the case opens. This would ensure that even if you drop your Bose pair, your earbuds will be secure. Unfortunately for the Airpods Pro’s case – if you drop it, there’s a big chance that your buds will go flying out.

Fit and Controls

Both have great fit, but in different ways because of their design. Starting off with the Airpods Pro, they fit perfectly but due to their stem and overall design, they have the tendency to come off more easily. Meanwhile, the QuietComfort is more secure with their wide size and ear wings that make sure you get a secure fit. Also because of their wider form factor, weight is distributed equally with the QuietComfort making it feel more comfortable – resulting in no ear fatigue – and bearable to wear for hours on end.

As for controls, the Airpods Pro uses Force Stems which is a physical click function. On the other hand, Bose uses tap function which is always a little confusing to do. Both are definitely tedious but we do prefer using the Force Stems of the Airpods Pro as they proved to be easier.

Battery Life

Overall, the Airpods Pro has better total time usage being capable of 24 hours of playtime (made possible by the extra 19 hours in the case). Meanwhile, the Bose QuietComfort only has a total time usage of 18 hours of playtime (made possible by the extra 12 hours in the case).

However, the QuietComfort has better time for a single-charge use or “real-time use” with six hours of playtime. The Airpods Pro only gets four and a half hours with active noise cancelling on or five hours with noise cancelling off. Thankfully, both have a quick charge feature with the Airpods Pro being able to deliver an hour of use after only five minutes of charging and the QuietComfort being able to provide two hours of additional playtime after fifteen minutes of charging.

Connectivity

The Bose QuietComfort uses Bluetooth 5.1 which is the second most-recent Bluetooth standard. As for the Airpods Pro, it still uses Bluetooth 5 but it has a big advantage since Apple is using its H1 wireless chip which brings with it many great features.

Aside from being able to create a great ecosystem for your Apple devices, the Airpods Pro’s H1 chip uses Bluetooth Class 1 audio which creates a stronger signal than the usual Class 2 used in the audio industry. Additionally, the H1 chip allows the Airpods Pro to have a massive 100-foot range compared to the industry-grade 30 feet that the QuietComfort is limited to.

Sound Quality

With regards to audio quality, Bose wins over Apple offering a punchier bass with a bolder and more solid sound. A factor of this could be because Apple has the Beats line which is where they lay on the heavy bass which resulted in a more neutral sound for the Airpods and the Airpods Pro. In saying that though, the Airpods Pro still has great sound quality with a crisp sound and clear mids.

Although overall, the QuietComfort dominates with a larger soundstage and stronger bass – which is very important for a lot of different people with different lifestyles.

Active Noise Cancelling (ANC)

Having 11 levels of active noise cancellation (ANC), Bose has the upper hand in this category. You can configure the levels to your liking and can even save your favorite settings for easier access. This means that Bose does a superb job in cancelling out ambient noise with the highest level sealing off your surroundings completely.

While the Airpods Pro also has great active noise cancelling, it does let in some background noise slip in which isn’t as ideal in settings like long-haul flights or if you’re someone who prefers/needs complete silence to work.

Distinct Features

Before deciding which pair of earbuds wins overall, let us present some unique features that each model has.

Airpods Pro

Since they’re made by Apple, using them within the Apple ecosystem of products is an amazing experience. It’s a breeze to connect them to your devices and so easy to customize your experience with them. Now with iOS 14, there are also new features offered such as auto-switching between devices without having to pair and unpair. They included spatial audio as well which recreates a Dolby Atmos-like 3D sound experience. It also innovated Audio Share which allows multiple pairs of Airpods Pro to connect to a single Apple device such as an iPhone, iPad, and even Apple TV.

Other than that, Apple also has a unique fit test to determine which seal fits you best. It also uses the inward-facing microphone to adjust Audio EQ for the best sound for your ears.

Bose QuietComfort Earbuds

Aside from the amazing 11 levels of ANC, Bose offers other unique features as well. It has a dedicated app where you can adjust many features and where you can see the status of your earbuds in terms of battery, volume, and even firmware to name a few.

It also has a pretty cool setting that allows you to automatically answer a phone call whenever an earbud is inserted. This means that if a call is coming through, you wouldn’t need to touch your phone as you can just simply insert your earbud in to answer it.

The Verdict

All things considered, we think that it’s only fair to say that the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds is the winner. With its excellent noise cancellation abilities, great sound quality, and functional design, they truly deserve to be hailed as the best true wireless earbuds over the Airpods Pro.

Because while the Airpods Pro are well-loved all over the earbud market scene and are a great pair as well, the Bose QuietComfort proved to deliver above and beyond both in terms of hardware and software.

Where to Buy

You can get the Bose Quiet Earbuds on Amazon for $279.00 and the Airpods Pro here at various prices starting at $199.99.

With wireless Bluetooth earbuds being all the rage right now, it is no surprise that…

With wireless Bluetooth earbuds being all the rage right now, it is no surprise that loads of brands have released their own version. We can only imagine how overwhelming it is now to decide which pair of earbuds to get. This is why we have taken the liberty to review one of the pairs that has been a strong contender in the earbuds market: the Raycon E25.

The Raycon E25 is Raycon Global’s flagship product that advertises itself to be snug and travel-friendly which definitely ticks the box for individuals always on-the-go. It also claims to have 6 hours of playtime on a single charge with 24 hours battery life which is great for binge-watching shows, long flights, and working out. This comes at a price point of about $80 though which is definitely on the more expensive side. Is it really worth it? Let’s find out.

Starting off with the Pros, we look at what exactly the Raycon E25 has that made over a million of their customers buy them. Aside from the fact that singer-songwriter Ray J owns the company, of course (which we think is pretty cool!).

Pros

Small Ear Friendly. Being such a compact pair of earbuds, the Raycon E25 will definitely have a great fit for those with smaller ears. Having earbuds fall out is such a pain so it’s great that you don’t have to worry about that with this pair. Aside from being light, they’re comfortable as well thanks to their gel tips which is a plus for those who plan to use these earbuds on long flights or to workout.

IPX4 Waterproof. A little drizzle or sweat won’t faze the Raycon E25 making it a great pair for those who live in wet towns or those who live a very active lifestyle. With its IPX4 coating making the earbuds waterproof, you can go out for a walk or a bike ride while listening to music even if it rains without worrying too much. You can also use this to workout since this feature will make sure that the earbuds stay in your ears when you get sweaty. This is handy for those who love to travel as well since you wouldn’t need to worry so much about it getting water damage in different climates.

With those high points though come low points. Even though they do have great fit and have proven themselves to be travel-friendly, we also found some things that can be deal breakers for others. See the Cons below.

Cons

Outdated. As the earbud market expands, the Raycon E25 isn’t able to keep up. It lacks features that most modern earbuds now have like different EQ settings, transparency mode, and app support for customization. This is a bummer since it is retailing for quite a bit of money which means that it is competing with a lot of strong modern earbuds. Aside from this, the features that it currently has can still be improved particularly its bad mic quality and connection strength that make taking calls a pain. We can only imagine how frustrating it is to have your call be dropped or cut off in the middle of an important conversation so if that’s something you’re looking to use these earbuds for, there are better alternatives for you.

Poor Sound Quality. With sound quality being the most important factor in looking for the perfect pair of earbuds, it is very unfortunate that the Raycon E25 just doesn’t deliver. The sound comes through too heavy on the bass which some might like at the gym but not during early morning commutes to work. This also means that it will not likely give your favorite tunes or movies justice which is rather disappointing.

Expensive. At a price point of roughly $80, you could definitely expect a lot more from the Raycon E25. Even though it ticks the boxes for being comfortable and versatile in many environments, it still cannot make up for the fact that it lacks modern features and has poor sound quality. Overall, these earbuds definitely need an upgrade to live up to their high price point.

All in all, the Raycon E25 definitely delivers in some areas such as fit and versatility. It’s something that you wouldn’t mind wearing for a long period of time which makes it perfect for travelling and intense study or work sessions. It’s versatile as well with its waterproofing which is always a good feature to have to give you the extra piece of mind especially in wet climates.

With that being said though, we think that the Cons outweigh the Pros with its outdated features and poor sound quality. It doesn’t have high-end features like different music settings and app support for customization which is something you wouldn’t expect for its price. It also has poor sound quality which means that it’s not able to do its job well. With loads of earbuds in the market, you can definitely find something more modern at a cheaper price.

A legacy brand tries its hand at something new, with mixed results Nobody denies Bose…

A legacy brand tries its hand at something new, with mixed results

Nobody denies Bose is the king of audio brands in many markets around the world. Indeed, it has been rare to find a storied brand that has managed to innovate and stay relevant in a world dominated by upstarts like Sonos, Beats, and bootstrapped startups like Mifo.

Despite it all, Bose marches on with a true wireless earbud offering worthy of their legacy. The SoundSport Free is an adequate device with some of the better features in the category targeting active lifestyles. I’m talking movers and shakers, folks.

At first glance the SoundSport Free true wireless earbuds are just that: Sporty and cool with a handful of bright, easily recognizable colorways. But after using these fresh additions to a even fresher category of second generation true wireless earbuds, there are evident drawbacks that buyers need to understand before plunking down a hefty price tag that elevates Bose’s SoundSport Free earbuds well into the luxury category.

Sound is the single place in which the SoundSport Free excels. Music of all types is well reproduced, with clear highs and enough bass to satisfy those used to Beats or other bass-heavy tuned earbuds. The true wireless form factor prevents sound from reaching that of on ear or over ear options in the same price range; it’s just simple physics after all.

Design is exciting at first, but quickly loses luster thanks to an awkward, protruding design that is larger than it needs to be. The plastic shells extend well outside of the ear, creating a silly looking effect that also has potential to cause snags or catches during intense physical activity. Compared to the sleek form factor of the Mifo O5 the Bose SoundSport Free earbuds are gargantuan.

Battery life is fine, but not outstanding. In our tests the SoundSport Free earbuds lasted a decent 3.5 hours before expiring using a mix of music and calls at various volume levels. For some that may be enough to make it through a workout or commute, but for the price we would expect to see 6+ hours of continuous use time to match other brands with similar offerings.

Conclusion: Bose SoundSport Free is fine, but not for the price

While Bose clearly paid attention to some details, it seems to have completely forgotten about others. For example, IPX4 water protection is woefully inadequate for true wireless earbuds marketed toward active lifestyles. Mic placement and function is also mediocre to poor, depending on your ambient conditions.

At nearly $200, Bose has priced itself above competitors that offer more features at nearly the same sound quality. While the Bose name carries gravitas in the audio world, we can’t recommend buying on brand alone.
